Twenty years ago, climate denial was a problem of the right. Today, AI denial is a problem of the left, and the consequences could be even more disastrous. My new video essay.

This is a huge opportunity for Europe. Welcome Anthropic with open arms. Roll out the red carpet. Visa for all employees. Europe already controls the AI hardware bottleneck through ASML. Add the world's leading AI safety lab and you have the foundations of an AI superpower.
BREAKING: Anthropic CEO formally refuses to comply with the Department of War's demands. 44% chance they're banned from the supply chain. poly.market/6kkVEei

This story is actually insane: โ€ข dude drops $2000 on a DJI robot vacuum like a lunatic โ€ข refuses to use the normal app like a peasant โ€ข Sammy Azdoufal fires up Claude to crack the API so he can drive it with an xbox controller โ€ข Claude delivers the goods โ€ข pulls an auth token from their servers, connects successfully โ€ข except the system thinks he controls 7000 vacuums โ€ข checks again โ€ข yep, seven thousand โ€ข DJI built authentication with zero device ownership verification โ€ข any valid token works for any unit on the planet โ€ข Sammy now has eyes inside homes across 24 countries โ€ข live vacuum camera feeds everywhere โ€ข full floor plans from the mapping data โ€ข some guy in germany eating cereal at 3am, unaware his roomba is snitching โ€ข one API call away from being the most informed burglar in history โ€ข all he wanted was to steer his vacuum with a joystick โ€ข does the right thing and reports it โ€ข DJI fixes it in two days โ€ข back to normal life with his stupidly expensive floor cleaner โ€ข IoT companies stay undefeated at shipping garbage security

I built an app that lets you talk to statues. Naturally, I took it for a spin at the British Museum. Full conversations in the thread.

The real weakness of the BBC, as exemplified by recent events, is its failure to stand up to ludicrous claims from the right that it is somehow hugely biased to the left. Listening to Telegraph journalists bleat about a biased BBC, or Reform MPs enjoying more platforming than any minority party in history, underlines that. This is the work of right wing journalists and owners working hand in glove with right wing forces inside the BBC to undermine it. The Labour government needs to help the BBC stand up for itself and clear out those forces that want the BBC to fail.

This is very much true. But Itโ€™s not only paranoid world leaders who fear death and obsess over legacy. Billionaires like Peter Thiel, Sam Altman, and Jeff Bezos pour fortunes into anti-aging labs, chasing immortality and trying to outwit the grim reaper.

OBAMA: It's fair to say that 80% of the world's problems involve old men hanging on who are afraid of death and insignificance, and they won't let go. They build pyramids, and they put their names on everything. They get very anxious about it.

Everything Claudia says!
The fact that less than 3 years after the release of ChatGPT expert researchers are becoming executioners of LLM ideas in user studies tells us a lot about the pace of advancement. The field of crowdsourcing might have to rebrand itself as expertsourcing.
