Here the attribute objects for Myriad Pro vs. Myriad Variable Concept. Using a plug-in, with persistent footprint. Bold != Bold. VF axes are stored in the same attribute, by order / without tags.

When I change the weight to 696, the font style dropdown shows custom, but within a character style, it lists the axes and a different name as description.
