The ancient Greeks made a psychedelic from toxic fungus, wood ash, & water — and served it to thousands every year for 2,000 years. A paper published today in Nature showed how. Plato drank this. Cicero drank this. The Western world was built on a psychedelic sacrament.

I’ve seen this kid before. He’s the nerd from childhood who was also given way too much money by his parents, so he attempts to wield it as a tool to ā€œbe cool.ā€ I desperately hope @sama wakes up one day and realizes it doesn’t f’ing matter.

Don’t call it a comeback.
Apparently ~160 people in Austin, TX may make $100M from the SpaceX IPO. 12 will clear $1B. Don't sleep on Austin - that's a lot of capital formation, very quickly.

Putting more money into @OpenAI is like supplying North Korea with more nuclear weapons. It is incredibly unfortunate how many VC and banker bros pump money into companies that they genuinely have zero regard or foresight for how those companies will negatively affect humanity.
NEWS: OpenAI just announced that it has officially closed their latest funding round with $122 billion in committed capital at a post money valuation of $852 billion. "We are now generating $2B in revenue per month. At this stage, we are growing revenue four times faster than the companies who defined the Internet and mobile eras, including Alphabet and Meta. ChatGPT has more than 900 million weekly active users, and over 50 million subscribers. Search usage has nearly tripled in a year, and our ads pilot reached more than $100 million in ARR in under six weeks. Momentum is just as strong on the enterprise side, which now makes up more than 40% of our revenue, and is on track to reach parity with consumer by the end of 2026. GPT‑5.4 is driving record engagement across agentic workflows. Our APIs now process more than 15 billion tokens per minute. Codex now serves over 2 million weekly users, up 5x in the past three months, with usage growing more than 70% month over month."

I resigned from OpenAI on Monday. The same day, they started testing ads in ChatGPT. OpenAI has the most detailed record of private human thought ever assembled. Can we trust them to resist the tidal forces pushing them to abuse it? I wrote about better options for @nytopinion

Justin Mares on the Bryan Johnson vs. Ray Peat schools of thought: "There are two schools of thought. There's the Bryan Johnson school of thought, which is: we've done all the research. We know that you need to eat a plant-based diet. We know that you need to do caloric restriction, all in the name of longevity." "In many ways, the Peaters are the exact opposite... The Peaters are like, you should eat as much sugar as you possibly can – mostly in the form of honey and fruit." "If Bryan Johnson is like, 'I want to eat less and ramp down my metabolism, it means I can live longer', the Peaters are like, 'ramp it up as much as you can. The more energy you have, the longer you are able to use that energy over a long period of time.'" "It is such a contrarian view to a hundred years of nutrition dogma that says sugar is bad, should be avoided." @jwmares @truemed @eriktorenberg

My buddy @Jason invited me on the largest podcast in the universe @twistartups to talk about cannabis. Of course I took the opportunity to call out @GavinNewsom, overregulation, and the failed War on Drugs for fueling today's irresponsible high-dose THC trends among younger consumers — pushing people toward ultra-potent products instead of balanced, responsible use. (Sound familiar? Prohibition-era moonshine all over again.) A move only a company that sees itself losing the AI race would make. They know @xAI / @SpaceX celestial data centers are the ultimate checkmate.
Can't imagine a software company saying they deserve your discoveries because you used their software. Ads were inevitable, but this sounds wild.

Dirty tactics: trying to slip this agrochemical immunity language into Bill 453. Please repost to prevent continued destruction of the American microbiome, ecosystem, and soil health.
🚨PESTICIDE IMMUNITY EMERGENCY!!!🚨 WHILE YOU WERE WITH FAMILY OVER THE HOLIDAYS, CONGRESS MOVED TO PROTECT PESTICIDE COMPANIES FROM CANCER AND OTHER LAWSUITS. Reshare this now! Congress is quietly sneaking Section 453 into the spending bill— and Republicans like @CongMikeSimpson @lisamurkowski @SpeakerJohnson are helping pesticide giants dodge liability. Section 453 gives legal immunity to chemical companies—even if their product harms your kids. @CongMikeSimpson calls it a ā€œlabeling clarification.ā€ That’s a lie. It’s a free pass for Bayer, Syngenta, and every foreign manufacturer dumping poison on U.S. soil. If this passes, you won’t be able to sue—even if you’re harmed. NO MORE IMMUNITY FOR CORPORATE POISON. Kill Section 453!!! SAVE OUR FARMERS!!! @HouseAppropsGOP *Thanks @amtoxicology for keeping this on our radar!

Elon Musk should just go ahead and merge SpaceX, Tesla, and xAI. We all know it makes sense for him to do it. Give the world a single stock ticker to bet on the future of abundance.
