Is there any report in literature on passivating beads using a Lys/Arg-free protein for pull-down or IP-MS? #TeamMassSpec@ItsBiniR@UCDProteomics
@ProteomicsNews
Sorry my question was not precise. I was wondering if coating the beads with a protein that lacks Lys/Arg to prevent non-specific binding is an idea that has been tested?
Starting with 2 ug of protein for S-trap digestion, I end up with 15 ug of tryptic peptides as reported by Thermo BCA colorimetric peptide assay. Where am I going wrong? #TeamMassSpec@ItsBiniR@UCDProteomics @ProteomicsNews
“I'd also like to acknowledge my students (…) they've gone on to do many great things.
I'm particularly proud of the fact that one of my students fired Sam Altman.“

New from our team @TheCrick, led by @GrantPellowe. Eukaryotes are very good at folding multidomain proteins. Here we give some insight into how the human ribosome helps with this, by tuning how nascent domains fold and dock. 1/n biorxiv.org/content/10.1101/…

I wish journals would require methods papers be reproducible by at least 3 labs before it can be published . Think of all the time and resources this would save !
Eric Schmidt says in the next year, AI models will unite three key pillars: very large context windows, agents and text-to-action, and no-one understands what the impact will be but it will involve everyone having a fleet of AI agents at their command
New analysis from the @royalsociety shows just how high UK visa costs for researchers are compared to upfront costs for similar visa routes in 13 other countries.
Here, we take a look at how the UK compares to countries in the G7 included in the analysis 🔍⤵️ 1/5
ALT Bar chart shows the upfront costs for similar visa routes for researchers in the UK, US, France, Italy, Germany and Japan. UK costs are multiple times higher than other countries and the biggest factor for this is the Immigration Health Surcharge (IHS).

NH3 channeling enzymes typically form tight complexes, but the M jannaschii GMP synthetase subunits interact transiently. Balaram and colleagues @jncasr now present a mechanistic model explaining the various steps in this fascinating catalytic cycle.

Consider designing a two-component (A, B) enzyme system where A and B catalyze distinct reactions, A binds the cognate substrates and activates B, the product of B in-turn tunnels intermolecularly to the active site of A, reacts with the product of A, generating the final product
