The BALA (Building As Learning Aid) program has begun its transformative journey in the Rayagada district, turning classrooms into dynamic learning centers where students engage with subjects innovatively. This initiative, under the ST and SC Development Department, is being rolled out in SDC schools across five districts: Rayagada, Nabarangpur, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, and Sundargarh.
The launch event at Pitamahal Ashram School featured a blend of local artistry and academic insight, with District DWO Bharat Bhusan Biswal as the chief guest. He highlighted that the program would simplify the learning of math and environmental studies for students. The event also saw the presence of distinguished guests such as DEO Rayagada Shyamaghana Bhuyan, teacher and tribal researcher Dr. Dwiti Chandra Sahu, tribal painter Junesh Gamang, Jitendra Dalabehera, Bharat Madangi, and Kartik Khandagiri.
Art plays a crucial role in this initiative, with paintings by Dongaria Kandha's Kapada Gandh and Lanjia Saora's Idital being integral to the program. Classrooms will be creatively divided, with one side dedicated to math and the other to environmental and language learning. Starting at Pitamahal Ashram School, the program aims to reach 100 schools within the district, fostering an enriched educational environment.
