Learned the basics of the bounce-fire series from @KulaPerformance at the @universalspeedrating summit and have been implementing ever since that weekend with my athletes. It’s challenging and checks a tons of boxes as you run through the different variations. Typically I’ll learn something, test on myself, and then test on my athletes I’ve been working with for an extended amount of time. I’ve seen improvements with my athletes that I’ve exposed to the bounce-fire consistently and it builds one of the MOST IMPORTANT aspects of athleticism, coordination! #buildingstrongerhumans #athletedevelopment #speeddevelopment #youthathlete #trainingtips

You may be missing the most important aspect of youth athlete development, the foundation. It’s not as appealing as big tournaments 🏟️ across the country. It can be unbelievably challenging to be consistent with your training, recovery, and nutrition… all while still trying to be a kid. I don’t have the exact answer for you, but I do know that too many youth athletes are spending all their time at the top of the pyramid. #BuildingStrongerHumans #athletedevelopment #speeddevelopment #youthathlete #trainingtips

Drill of the week Partner chase and flip! If the athlete makes it to the end of their line without being tagged they then flip to tag. Typically this drills ends from either a poor cut by your competitor or fatigue. Love implementing this one to get some hard decelerations into lateral change of direction. Save this one and try it out on your next training day 📈⚡️ #BuildingStrongerHumans #athletedevelopment #speeddevelopment #youthathlete #trainingtips

Taking the leap almost 4 years ago to invest in @universalspeedrating was a blessing. From improved education and networking for our coaches to better speed development systems and tracking for our athletes, the results have been phenomenal allowing us to compete for one of the best experiences in the country for youth athletes. Thank you to the all 200 of the facilities in the network that continue to pour into each other, to @universalspeedrating for making it all happen, and most importantly the athletes/parents that show up every single day to work towards their dreams. Athletes it time to get off the sidelines and start working! Schedule your free assessment through the 🔗 in our bio We’re just getting started! #BuildingStrongerHumans

Thankful and recharged after spending a weekend in the presence of the best coaches in the country. @universal_speed crew absolutely crushed this event and heading back to Idaho with some new insights from @les7spellman , Brian Kula, @danny_ruderock , @DustyAnfuso , @cicimurray , @clh_strength , @Arianna_Luther and more! As a coach and facility owner in small town Idaho it’s imperative make an effort to connect and learn from coaches around the country and I’m blessed to have the opportunity. Excited to get back into the facility and implement. #BuildingStrongerHumans

Important concept to understand as we head into in-season training and competition. Had to revive this one as we head into fall sports. Amazing video by @CoachDresch breaking down the “why” when it comes to training different performance qualities for athletes. The weight room is an educational setting. A 2 min demo can give student-athletes visual on why we do what we do. There’s not one right way to train, but smarter ways to train throughout the year. #BuildingStrongerHumans

I wish I would have started like this ⬆️ Instead we jumped straight to a barbell and loaded too heavy, too fast, and with limited range of motion. Getting it right from the beginning saves athletes from a long reset in the future. The goal is to hit these positions without an elevated heel over the long run. Youth athletes benefit tremendously from getting quality reps from the very beginning. #BuildingStrongerHumans #WorldClassCoaching #YouthAthlete #Speed #Power

You’ve worked hard all year… but here’s why in-season training is SO IMPORTANT! -> Speed decreases in 8 days -> Power decreases in 14 days -> Strength decreases in 28 days All colleges and professional teams train in-season for this specific reason! If you want to outlast and outperform your competition; don’t stop training the important qualities for months at a time. In 10 years we haven’t seen an athlete that stops training during the season come back better! #BuildingStrongerHumans #Speed #Strength #Power #Athlete

Honestly a great workout for any athlete looking to develop power and explosiveness. Train like an athlete!! We see athletes getting confused with social media and moving away from effective and thought out training. Check out our online training programs via the link in the bio. #BuildingStrongerHumans

“Sport Specific” is a buzz word in the training space. Truth is we aren’t trying to imitate sport in the facility, at least we aren’t. Goal is to build robust capable athletes than can show up to their practices/games and perform intense tasks dictated by the sport itself. Change of direction is one of the most important aspects of sport outside of something like track and field. The best way to implement that we have found to implement is structured prep practicing positions and movement strategies and then letting the athletes compete in an open environment requiring reaction to other individuals, aka “specific” #BuildingStrongerHumans
