Brigadier General Friday Oguche Onu has officially assumed command as the 14th Commander of the 35 Artillery Brigade during a colourful handing and taking over ceremony held at Alamala Barracks, Abeokuta, Ogun State.
He took over from Brigadier General Godwin Nwamba, who has been redeployed to the Army Headquarters Department of Civil-Military Affairs as the Acting Deputy Chief of Civil-Military Affairs – Psychological Operations.
In his farewell remarks, Brigadier General Nwamba appreciated officers and soldiers of the Brigade for their loyalty, professionalism, and unwavering support throughout his tenure, noting that their dedication contributed immensely to the achievements recorded under his leadership.
He encouraged personnel to extend the same cooperation and support to the new Commander, emphasizing the importance of unity, discipline, and teamwork in sustaining operational effectiveness.
Speaking after assuming command, Brigadier General Friday Onu commended his predecessor for the remarkable progress and developmental strides recorded within the Brigade. He also congratulated him on his new appointment and wished him success in his future responsibilities.
The new Commander called on officers and soldiers to remain committed to duty, maintain high standards of professionalism, and continue prioritizing operational excellence and discipline at all times.
He further stressed the importance of troop welfare and appealed for the support, loyalty, and cooperation of all personnel as he begins a new phase of leadership aimed at moving the Brigade to greater heights.
Highlights of the ceremony included the signing of handing and taking over notes, transfer of command insignia, Quarter Guard parade, address to troops, and group photographs.
