Datalinking and use of Offboard weapons does give a little wiggle room and flexibility. Utilising NSM for example and hooking it for use. But agreed a on board weapon does need sorting. Until Spear arrives we will have to rely on Offboard alternatives.

If I have to choose between a Rafale in 2025 vs funds for Jet engine CCA/MUMT next gen Radars, datalinking etc. The choice is clear, one provides no advantage over the enemy whatsoever while the other will give us better tech than whatever we can import in the next decade to come

As for superior datalinking, Mk1A again takes the win. Rafale cannot guide meteor via IAF AWACs or can cue/provide fire control solution to S-400 for example. Mk1A can. I don't know if Dassault's paying you or if you are one of those who think Indian = bad, but accept it.

Better radar? Maybe Better EW? Hell nah, it lacks GaN based jammers Better weapons? Again, no. Superior datalinking? Could be MUMT-T? No aircraft has MUM-T right now. Rafale in its current configuration is better in EW, BVR and A2G roles. It is combat proven as well.

Tejas is much better than Rafale. Full stop. Better radar, better EW (Integrated GaN DRFM AESA based EW), better weapons, NCW/superior datalinking and communication AND MuM-T. Rafale cannot get those things until F5 which is 10 years away from mass production.
