Here are some key aspects of hygiene: 1.𝗛𝗔𝗡𝗗𝗪𝗔𝗦𝗛𝗜𝗡𝗚 -Regularly washing hands with soap and water.𝖧𝗈𝗐 𝗈𝖿𝗍𝖾𝗇 𝖽𝗈 𝗒𝗈𝗎 𝗐𝖺𝗌𝗁 𝗒𝗈𝗎𝗋 𝗁𝖺𝗇𝖽𝗌? 2.𝗕𝗢𝗗𝗬 𝗛𝗬𝗚𝗜𝗘𝗕𝗘 -Keeping the body clean through regular bathing or showering. 3.𝗢𝗥𝗔𝗟 𝗛𝗬𝗚𝗜𝗘𝗡𝗘 -Brushing and flossing teeth to maintain good oral health. 4.𝗖𝗟𝗘𝗔𝗡𝗟𝗜𝗡𝗘𝗦𝗦 -Keeping living and working spaces clean and free of dirt and germs. 5.𝗪𝗔𝗦𝗧𝗘 𝗠𝗔𝗡𝗔𝗚𝗘𝗠𝗘𝗡𝗧 -Properly disposing of waste to prevent the spread of diseases. In August 2024,Ministry Of Health team led by PS Mary Muthoni Muriuki launched the “Epuka Uchafu Afya Nyumbani Initiative” in West Pokot. Kenya generates around 22,000 tonnes of waste daily,with only 10% properly managed and 7.3% of households lacking basic sanitation facilities. This initiative aims to empower communities to create sustainable solutions for better waste management and sanitation. So far,a total of 7 counties have launched 𝗘𝗣𝗨𝗞𝗔 𝗨𝗖𝗛𝗔𝗙𝗨 𝗔𝗙𝗬𝗔 𝗡𝗬𝗨𝗠𝗕𝗔𝗡𝗜 in their respective counties. On the sidelines of a side event on ending #triplethreat which Access to Medicines Platform attended, Senator @cathymumma made some very progressive remarks. She cautioned against making triple threat a catch phrase since teenage pregnancy is a defilement issue where laws already exist against this. She further added that there is need to have legislation on provision of sanitary towels in schools -just as books are provided at no cost. This will reduce the issue of transactional sex which greatly contributes to the triple threat. She also encouraged intergovernmental collaboration on ending #GBV, which is well aligned to one of our priority interventions on strengthening multisectoral collaboration between the #Gender and #Health Departments in our counties of operation. #DevolutionConference2025 #devolutionconference
