On May 6, Cst. Prieur from the RCMP Federal Policing – Central Region (Ontario) Border Integrity Unit and K‑9 partner Phillie visited a Grade 2 class at Orchard Park Public School in London. Cst. Prieur read Dale the RCMP Dog, sharing the story of the first RCMP police dog from the 1930s, and spoke with students about police work and K‑9 teams. The students were excited to meet Phillie and asked many thoughtful questions. After the visit, the class wrote thank‑you notes, including one from a student who shared that the experience inspired them to work for the RCMP one day. Thank you to Cst. 📸✍️Gendarmerie Nationale 🐾 Tribute to Rusti 🇫🇷 On Thursday, March 26, 2026, at 11:00 a.m., a moving ceremony was held at the Parentis-en-Born barracks in tribute to Rusti, a loyal comrade-in-arms. Nearly fifty personnel from the Landes gendarmerie group, the Parentis-en-Born company, and ten canine units from the Nouvelle-Aquitaine gendarmerie region gathered to honor his memory. Rusti, a Belgian Malinois born in August 2020, distinguished himself through his excellent performance during his three years of service with the PSIG (Peloton de Surveillance et d'Intervention de la Gendarmerie) in Parentis-en-Born. He sadly passed away on December 29, 2025, after a battle with an incurable illness. Posthumously, Rusti was awarded the National Defense Bronze Medal, with the National Gendarmerie clasp, in recognition of his exemplary service. Following the ceremony, his ashes were placed in a memorial space at the heart of the barracks by his handler, Marilou, accompanied by her deputy, Laurent. 🔹 Loyalty, courage, and commitment: Rusti will forever remain in our memories. #Tribute #Gendarmerie #Memory #DogHandler #Commitment
