우버의 투자를 받고 루시드와 함께 캘리포니아에서 로보택시 서비스를 준비하고 있는 Nuro가 기존의 저속 배송용으로 2020년에 받고 활용하던 - DMV Driverless Testing Permit - DMV Deployment Permit(캘리포니아 최초) 을 기반으로 이번에 로보택시용으로 - DMV Driverless Testing Permit - CPUC Drivered Pilot Permit 을 받았다고 합니다. 이 중 DMV의 Permit은 기존의 것에 루시드의 Gravity SUV를 추가하는 방식으로 변경한 것이라고 하고요. CPUC의 Permit은 승객을 태우기 때문에 새로 허가 받은 것이고요. 물론 이 다음으로 - CPUC Driverless ride-hailing permit - DMV Deployment Permit(루시드의 Gravity SUV까지 추가해서) 을 받아야 웨이모처럼 무인 유상 로보택시 서비스를 할 수 있습니다. 캘리포니아에서는 테슬라도 이런 과정을 거쳐야 서비스가 가능한데 아직까지는 허가 신청을 전혀 하지 않고 있다고 하네요. 물론 SELF DRIVE Act가 내년에 통과되면 상황이 바뀔 가능성은 있어서 그걸 기다리는 듯하기는 한데 웨이모, Zoox, 우버/루시드/Nuro의 선례가 있어서 어떨지는 모르겠습니다.
