Today marks another decisive leap forward as 17 additional applications under Electronics Components Manufacturing Scheme (ECMS) were approved by Shri
@AshwiniVaishnaw, Hon’ble Union Minister for Electronics & IT, in the presence of Shri
@JitinPrasada, Hon’ble Minister of State for Electronics & IT, Shri S Krishnan, (
@SecretaryMEITY), and Shri Sushil Pal, Joint Secretary, MeitY.
These approvals unlock capacity across camera modules, multilayer PCBs, enclosures, connectors, oscillators and optical transceivers, strengthening the backbone of India’s components ecosystem and accelerating our march toward deep manufacturing and high domestic value addition.
We are witnessing the beginning of a structural industrial shift. ECMS is emerging as powerhouse that will position India among the world’s most competitive electronics ecosystems. It will anchor GVCs firmly on Indian soil, nurture globally competitive Indian champions across every major product category, and fast-track our journey towards the Hon’ble Prime Minister’s vision of $500 bln in electronics manufacturing by 2030-31.
Scale remains the engine of competitiveness. When scale expands, the ecosystem deepens, costs fall and exports rise. The mobile phone industry is living proof: once the world’s leading value chain players entered India, volumes surged and India became a global export hub. With ECMS propelling components, sub-assemblies and capital goods manufacturing, the same story will unfold across IT hardware, automotive electronics, industrial electronics and future technologies.
India is firing on all cylinders. We are now entering a phase where indigenous capital goods capability must become a national mission. Precision machinery, advanced tools, and equipment define the depth of manufacturing and with ECMS, India is positioning itself to master the machines, and therefore, master the market. Today’s approvals reaffirm the government’s unwavering commitment to design leadership, quality excellence, and resilient, swadeshi supply chains.
The direction ahead is unmistakable: India will design, manufacture and export advanced components, sub-assemblies and capital equipment to the world. Our leadership will be defined by capability, quality and speed.
We stand fully committed to driving this next era of deep manufacturing and global competitiveness for India.
