Most tactical HUDs look badass… until pressure hits. Then they collapse. Non-hardcore gamers: feel free to scroll 😅 But if stress-driven UI design matters to you → stay. Building my Tactical Squad Command Interface, I obsessed over one thing: How fast can someone read life-or-death info on adrenaline? Answer: Not by adding more UI. It's subtraction ruthless hierarchy controlled structure. Normal combat → calm, modular HUD. Predictable scan paths. Stable colors. Zero panic. Critical state → positions locked, but feeling unstable: - Red only where death is close - Subtle micro-distortions - Heartbeat monitor turns from decor → pure tension AAA game UI isn't flashy overlays. It's designing for human limits under cognitive load. Still iterating. But one truth stands: Clarity under pressure = real design maturity. #GameUIDesign #HUDDesign #GameUX #TacticalUI #UXforGames

⚔️ Health. Stamina. Fury. Glory. ⚔️ Over the past few days, we’ve been working intensively on the core bars of Spartacus Blood Arena, the true pillars of the gladiatorial gameplay. We’ve introduced a much more effective visual feedback, featuring more dynamic charge and discharge, dedicated movement animations, and clear readability even without constantly staring at the HUD. Now that the mechanics behind the bars are fully programmed, our focus shifts to aesthetic refinement, visual clarity during combat, and the overall feeling delivered to the player. Why do these details matter so much? Because great gameplay starts right here: from the Health, Stamina, and Fury bars, to Super Combos, all the way to the Glory Bar, which allows you to unleash the final finishing blow ⚡ This is how we communicate with our gladiators. It’s our way of respecting everyone who tests, plays, and fights in the arena with us. 💬 Now it’s your turn What do you think? Mission UI Overhaul – Complete! Today I officially wrapped up the full set of mission-related UI icons for Subnautic Raider. Each icon was designed and animated entirely by hand in Blender — one by one, over the past few weeks. If you’ve been following my updates, you’ve seen the whole process unfold. ⚙️🛠️ Over the weekend, I also created new icons showing (Visible in the top-left corner during missions): How many enemy ships remain What types they are And yesterday, I built the frame that brings everything together into one unified steampunk-style layout. Today was all about polishing: making sure the icons align visually and function smoothly. I also re-rendered everything in double resolution — because hey, we’re no longer working with 8-bit memory limits 😉 Why not go big when you can? 🎬 As always, there’s a short in-game clip attached so you can see it all in motion. What’s next? I’m planning to add alerts for: Low oxygen Critical depth Hull damage But that’s for the near future.
