The Indian government has immediately blocked the importation of goods like servers, tablets, and laptops. The Ministry of Commerce and Industry warned of the crackdown, saying that "Import of Laptops, Tablets, All-in-One Personal Computers, and Ultra Small Form Factor Computers and Servers falling under HSN 8741 shall be 'Restricted' and their import would be allowed against a valid Licence for Restricted Imports."
💡 Exceptions:
1️⃣ 1 laptop, tablet, or all-in-one PC allowed for import, with duty payment.
2️⃣ Up to 20 items permitted for R&D, benchmarking, repair, or product development. Strict usage guidelines apply. 🛠️
Additionally, the government has allowed up to 20 products per consignment to be imported without a license for research and development, benchmarking, product development, repair and reexport, and assessment purposes. Additionally, the imported items must only be used for the intended uses and not for further sale. They must also be destroyed after their usage is done, either by re-exportation or other means.
