Did you see our project on BBC Countryfile?
#dancingwithdaffodils was awarded £2.8 million following a Farming Innovation Competition hosted by
@DefraGovUK in partnership with
@innovateuk.
This is a revolutionary project aimed at transforming the efficiency and sustainability of
#ruminant #livestock farming and encompasses three core components:
⭐ The development of an innovative feed additive to reduce methane emissions and enhance protein utilisation in ruminants;
⭐ The cultivation of a new cash crop, daffodils, for farm diversification;
⭐ The creation of a precision on-farm gas analyser to monitor methane emissions.
This multidimensional project brings together visionary scientists, agronomists, and agricultural experts with a shared mission to meet industry sustainability objectives, enhance the efficiency of ruminant livestock farming and increase the resilience of farm businesses in the future.
Scientific expertise will be provided by
@SRUC and
@BangorUni.
Industry partners
@GrampianGrowers, Agroceutical Products, Bioextractions (Wales),
@Rumenco_ltd and @WynnstayAgri will manage the production of the bioactive compound through to the finished feed, while @AnaloxGroup will develop revolutionary on-farm technology for monitoring methane emissions. CIEL will assist with driving knowledge exchange and industry engagement.
