My Struggle with Niva Bupa Health Insurance
I am just 30 years old, and had to undergo a life-saving surgery costing ₹16,14,000.
I trusted Niva Bupa Health Insurance (Policy No: 34429507202400, Claim ID: 2284356) to support me in my worst time.
Total Sum Assured - 45,00,000/-
But instead of relief, I got harassment, negligence & financial trauma.
On 1st June 2025, I submitted my insurance claim.
•After endless delays & queries, I finally got money after 3 months.
•But only ₹5,89,198 was paid.
•Over ₹10,24,802 was unfairly deducted under “Reasonable & Customary Charges.”
That means I got barely one-third of my genuine bill.
My reality after discharge:
•I had to beg and borrow money from family & friends just to pay the hospital and get discharged.
•Instead of resting, I was running alone to the hospital again and again for queries, papers, and insurance replies.
•The mental stress was unbearable.
•The financial burden crushed me, leaving me with nothing for post-surgery medicines & recovery.
•My family is also suffering — emotionally, mentally, and financially.
This isn’t just paperwork. This is my life.
Even Niva Bupa admitted delays:
Emails, service requests, and SMS clearly say “Claim delayed” and “Still under process.”
But accountability? ZERO.
I filed complaints everywhere:
•IRDAI (Case ID: 24909082)
•National Consumer Helpline (Grievance ID: 7836450)
•Ombudsman (Complaint registration no : 0NL-LCK-H-031-2525-00662)
Yet, no resolution.
At age 30, fighting for my life, instead of focusing on recovery, I had to fight my insurer.
Insurance is supposed to save lives, not push patients deeper into pain.
@NivaBupa @irdai – you cannot hide behind “policies” while patients suffer.
I demand:
•Full settlement of my genuine claim.
•Action on admitted delays & negligence.
•End to unfair “Reasonable & Customary” deductions.
No patient should go through this hell after discharge.
I am still suffering. I am still struggling. I am still waiting for justice.
Healthcare should heal — not destroy financially, mentally & emotionally.
