I’ve been reflecting on how 𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 shows up in 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵 𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗺𝘀. Not the shouting kind — the quieter kind.
People withdrawing. Avoiding conversations. Delaying decisions. The sense that something’s off, but no one mentions it.
I came across two articles — one on mental health in labs, the other on conflict in your research group. Neither is new, but both point to something that still holds true. It's rarely the 𝘀𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 itself that causes the deepest strain. It's what goes unsaid between people.
I’ve seen this myself in workshops. The hesitation to say, “something isn’t working.” The way unresolved tension affects collaboration, focus, and even sleep.
#Conflict and mental health aren’t separate topics. In labs, they’re often part of the same story.
During this hashtag#MentalHealthAwarenessMonth, it feels like a good time to pause. To notice what’s happening in our teams. And to ask what support might look like.
If you're curious, I’ve shared both articles in the comments.
