I remember when I lost an account years and years ago because I told a fired journalist that they could start a small business making T-shirts that said "Learn2Code"

All that stuff got started during the 'learn2code' era of like 2011 onwards which is when I started. @Google and @Meta are old OGs who birthed so many lives by putting resources like that on the internet. Because of that, now every developer knows the entire ecosystem of their open source repositories, and sign up for services like Google Cloud Platform, they sell on the play store making money for google, etc. That all exists because they put so many free resources on the internet back in 2011 and invested heavily in the developer community. All that work they did end up getting ruined by h1b's now because they were advertising to Americans who wanted better lives, not 🇮🇳. 🇮🇳 stole all that and ruined tech with their "work" culture, unfortunately.

"Sheryl Cowan, 57, was making $272,000 a year as a senior VP at a U.S.A.I.D.-funded nonprofit when she was let go at the end of March 2025. Last month she had an online interview for a $19-an-hour job managing a Penzeys Spices store in Falls Church, Va." nytimes.com/2026/04/21/us/po…

historically a good coder with a little domain knowledge would beat someone with a lot of domain knowledge who needed to learn2code. That is *relatively* speaking, less true now. One implication: tenure at jobs (gathering domain/tribal knowledge) is now more valuable, since it lets you amplify yourself w/ agents faster. at my new job i didn't use agents *meaningfully* for 3 months, cause I couldn't give them good specs.

my memories of that era are hazy now but 'learn2code' was already becoming 'learndatasci' if you were late-ish to coding which turned out well if you stuck with it

Did you know you have no idea what you are talking about? Half of the chart is bots like GitHub Copilot and Dependabot, the other half is slop nobody will ever download. That being said: Learn2Code

Layoffs, how do they work?! #Learn2Code Maybe if you asshats were better at your job, and not trying to be lefty mouthpiece activists for the communist Democrat party, you might still have a job.

Fuck @wapo and the rest of the shitlib leftist commie media. Unfortunately Dem billionaires will continue to fund them for purely political propaganda, just like here with Boston Pravda, they just won't have as many people doing it. "#Learn2Code" assholes 🤡
I spent 7 years at the @washingtonpost. Did some of the best work of my career. Had some of the best times of my life. The people responsible for the misery that is about to unfold will probably fail up, which is a damn shame. There will be a time for recriminations. But today, I'm going to channel my fury into love, for the people in my old newsroom who are about to lose their livelihoods, and the ones who will be expected to pick up the pieces. I'm sending you all every good thought I can muster. Please remember that this is not your fault. You did everything you could, everything that was asked of you and more. I was and remain proud to be your colleague.

I got one once, from someone who was always incredibly rude to me about my universal healthcare takes for years and literally once did the "learn2code" meme at me. It was after his husband left him and he lost his job and got sick that he was suddenly sorry 🙄
