I remember being at some after-party event in the Bay (LinuxWorld?) and one of my friends saw you walking and yelled "ESR, are you drunk??" Without a beat, you yelled back something like "No! I'm crippled!" My buddy was mortified; we never let him live that down.

I used to have one of those DeCSS tshirts from Copyleft (I think, those guys were cool back in the day) I either got at a LinuxWorld or DEFCON decades ago.

そそ、そのRedHat Linuxの時代には普通に雑誌のオマケとしてCD-ROMが付いてたなあ…というおじーさんの昔話でした😇
ちなみに、20年ぐらい前にはLinux Magazineの他にLinuxWorldという雑誌も出てました。この表紙にはRed Hat Linux 8.0 & Vine 2.6r1収録と書いてありますね。

I was there in NYC February 2000 when LinuxWorld gave a huge $25,000 check to XFree86 (XOrg). Open Source was not plagued and held down by social and political activism then. We just pushed code.

When I was invited to some LinuxWorld conferences in the early 2000s they mostly just paid for the airfare, hotel, and of course you got into the conference free. They did not however pay for the entire time, so I had to pay for extra hotel days to stay for the full conference.

I still remember the day at LinuxWorld Conf back in the early 1999 when they gave Richard Stallman the Linus Torvalds award.
Most ungrateful guy ever.
