🌿 Progress in the @LocalGoGreen project Partner Meetings 🤝 💫 Yesterday marked an important milestone for the Local GoGREEN initiative as all project partners came together for a round of coordination and progress meetings in #Zagreb. Our shared mission is to improve #sustainability in small and remote European municipalities, empowering local authorities to develop and implement effective #climate plans and #cleanenergy strategies. 👉 Throughout the day, all project partners actively participated in the meetings, including: Enerkon d.o.o. We are facing serious environmental trouble, yet many of us are barely aware of it. Snowfall is decreasing in many western regions, and here in Nigeria, we are almost halfway through December, yet the Harmattan has barely made an appearance. These unusual but dangerous patterns are clear signs of a changing climate. At the same time, we are hearing and seeing rising tensions between countries and the possibility of more wars. Conflict not only destroys lives but also devastates the environment, from pollutions and explosion to the damage of our land, water, and air. Meanwhile, people seem to be growing more careless by the day, showing less care for nature, clearing land recklessly, cuttin down trees, burning bushes, and prioritizing short term gains over long term survival for us in future and our offspring Human activities such as deforestation, bush burning, industrial pollution, and the environmental impact of wars all contribute to global warming and environmental decline. We must begin to ask ourselves hard questions: •Why are we destroying our environment? •Why do we treat nature with such disregard? The truth is, it is not too late to change, but that change must begin with awareness, responsibility, and deliberate action, both as individuals and as a society. 𝗟𝗢𝗖𝗔𝗟 𝗚𝗼𝗚𝗥𝗘𝗘𝗡 showcased at the forefront of sustainable urban transformation 🎤 We’re proud to announce that our partners Filomena Pietrapertosa and Monica Salvia from Institute of Methodologies for Environmental Analysis (CNR-IMAA) represented the LIFE Local GoGREEN project at the international workshop “Towards a Sustainable Clean Energy Transition in Cities: Technical and Societal Perspectives”, hosted by the AIT Austrian Institute of Technology in Vienna. 🏢 Across Europe, cities are playing a central role in driving the transition toward climate neutrality and long-term sustainability. Supported by flagship EU initiatives such as the #EuropeanGreenDeal, the #NewEuropeanBauhaus, and the Horizon Europe Mission for 100 Climate-Neutral Cities by 2030, urban areas are becoming key testbeds for systemic innovation in energy, mobility, governance, and the built environment. 🏙️ However, with cities accounting for around 𝟳𝟱% 𝗼𝗳 𝗴𝗹𝗼𝗯𝗮𝗹 𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗴𝘆 𝘂𝘀𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝟳𝟬% 𝗼𝗳 𝗴𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗻𝗵𝗼𝘂𝘀𝗲 𝗴𝗮𝘀 𝗲𝗺𝗶𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀, the path to a clean energy future is complex. 🎙️ Yesterday evening (24.09.2025), Benjamin Hueber, our partner from #JER dr. jakob energy research GmbH & Co.KG, hosted a training session in #Albstadt, Germany, as part of the EU-funded 𝗟𝗢𝗖𝗔𝗟 𝗚𝗼𝗚𝗥𝗘𝗘𝗡 project under the @LIFEprogramme 🌱 The training event focused on how companies can actively participate in the climate and energy transition (#CET) 👋 After an introduction by the Mayor Roland Tralmer from Stadt Albstadt, the #LOCALGoGREEN project and an overview of ambitious climate targets was presented by Benjamin – from the EU to Germany, Baden-Württemberg, and Albstadt. The message was clear: Transformation is a shared responsibility across all levels. 🙋‍♂️ Interactive exchange: In dialogue with the participants, key barriers to climate transformation were identified, including investment costs, regulatory uncertainties, and a lack of networks. 🌱 LOCAL GoGREEN Open Training Week kicks off in #Ponferrada! This week and next, the city of Ponferrada is hosting the LOCAL GoGREEN Open Training Week at Fundación Ciudad de la Energía (@CIUDEN_ES ), in collaboration with the City Council of Ponferrada and key regional energy stakeholders. The opening session featured insightful contributions from: 🔹 𝗟𝗶𝗱𝗶𝗮 𝗖𝗼𝗰𝗮, Councillor for the Presidency, City of Ponferrada 🔹 𝗥𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗱𝗼 𝗚𝗼𝗻𝘇𝗮́𝗹𝗲𝘇 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗼, Head of the Department of External Relations, Research and Training at EREN – Regional Public Energy Agency of Junta de Castilla y León 🔹 𝗔𝗻𝘁𝗼𝗻𝗶𝗼 𝗟𝗼́𝗽𝗲𝘇-𝗡𝗮𝘃𝗮 𝗠𝘂ñ𝗼𝘇, Managing Director of @Asociacion3e , who presented the LOCAL GoGREEN project and the in-person training program.
