Due to the recent act of violence that occurred in San Diego, Austin Police (APD) remains vigilant and continues to work closely with our state and federal partners, and our communities of faith. At this time, there are no known or credible threats to the City of Austin. Austin is a diverse and vibrant community, enriched by people of many cultures, faith, and backgrounds.
As Eid al-Adha begins on May 27, 2026, APD will maintain a visible presence at local Mosque’s and at related events taking place throughout our city, out of an abundance of caution. We encourage our community to remain alert and to look out for one another. If you see something that looks or feels suspicious, say something. If you observe any suspicious behavior or become aware of a potential threat, it is imperative you report it by calling 9-1-1. APD remains steadfast in its commitment to fostering a secure and inclusive Austin-where everyone feels safe, valued and respected. Our agency stands firmly against hatred and violence in all forms. The City of Austin’s "We All Belong" campaign highlights this commitment and reinforces our shared responsibility to protect one another.
