The two-day Expert Discussion and Hands-on Training Program “GeoNX-2026” on Slope Stability, Tunnelling and Open Pit Mining using MIDAS GTS NX concluded successfully at the Department of Mining Engineering, IIT (ISM) Dhanbad. Organised in association with the IGS Dhanbad Chapter and supported by MIDAS IT and TEXMiN, the programme brought together more than 80 students, researchers, faculty members and industry professionals for expert lectures and practical sessions on advanced geotechnical modelling, NATM tunnel analysis, slope stability assessment and open pit mine excavation. The valedictory session was addressed by Prof. Sukumar Mishra, Director, IIT (ISM) Dhanbad; Prof. R.K. Sinha, Acting HoD, Department of Mining Engineering; and Prof. Swapnil Mishra, Coordinator, GeoNX-2026. The Department of Mining Engineering at Indian Institute of Technology (ISM) Dhanbad inaugurated the two-day Expert Discussion and Hands-on Training Program “GeoNX-2026” on May 8 at the TEXMiN Smart Classroom, I2H Centre. The programme on Slope Stability, Tunnelling and Open Pit Mining using MIDAS GTS NX has brought together 84 participants comprising students, faculty members, researchers and industry professionals for expert lectures and practical training sessions in advanced geotechnical and mining applications. The inaugural session was graced by Prof. Dheeraj Kumar, Deputy Director, IIT (ISM) Dhanbad, in the presence of Prof. Keka Ojha, Dean (CEP); Prof. R.K. Sinha, Acting Head, Department of Mining Engineering; and Prof. Swapnil Mishra, Coordinator, GeoNX-2026. The event features expert sessions by academicians and industry experts along with hands-on training on tunnel analysis, slope stability and open pit mine excavation using MIDAS GTS NX software.
