Yup. I had been working on a bypass API for GPS tracking for SHARDS to avoid Googles API for years because its an $80/month fee just to even test. Spent years stuck on this one wall. AI found a solution using OpenMaps & pings in 30 seconds. 2 years of stuck..solved in 30 seconss

The map used for OpenMaps is a 2025 picture so the city should have this already. If thats Goolge Earth, then yeah probably. Question is how good the resolution is for ML stuff. openmaps.phila.gov/

there's a street near my house that I added to Apple Maps 4-5 years ago, they accepted it immediately. But for some reason my tesla doesn't think this street exists and routes me miles in the wrong direction, even though I've submitted to Google, Telsa, Openmaps, etc

Tesla Maps are so bad. I've tried to submit bugs to the Tesla email, openmaps, google maps, etc and it doesn't help. I guess it's either an easy fix that they're putting off til later, or a big problem.

I love the @Strava maps, but I would love to be able to just see a subset of my activities across maps. So I whipped together - trailmapper.dev/ Running on Cloudflare pages, quite literally 2/3 prompts to generate some basic code that allows you to 'upload' GTX files and render them on a openmaps map. No persistance, no login needed just a quick cheap way to better visualise some data.

I think openmaps is mainly used for additional location info, and tom tom does the routing.

Tesla needs to switch off of OpenMaps and go with Google. It might cost more but it will fix a ton of the issues. FSD is help back by the maps and routing.

I think some school zones it works because even with 13.2.9 I have had it slow down. It comes to the zones that are mapped. A ton of the issues are simply because of poor mapping / data. Tesla uses OpenMaps. If they switched to Googles data I imagine FSD would perform much better
