See you tomorrow in Wudinna. Rams are lotted, catalogues ready to go, listing on Sheep Genetics and RamSelect. More details on website obrienmerino.com soon. Ram Sale 1 August @ Wudinna
Agree with Ramselect. I understand the new indexes will be included once they go from being "research indexes" to the new industry indexes, so hopefully next May/June.
Not really using yet but our ram source is aligned with an index similar to what I would see ours being.
I’d like RamSelect updated to include the new indexes.
With the new year comes ram sale season up here in the New England NSW. We are having an open day at Clovernook Poll Merinos this Friday 6th Jan. Ram Sale Thursday 2nd Feb. Catalogue is up on MerinoSelect & RamSelect. Get in touch for an excel or pdf list.
All the best for 2023!
Mostly, still a few issues as @sheep_data_mgmt mentioned. If you notice something not working we need to let the RamSelect team know ramselect.com.au/#!/contactU…, they have limited resources, so all the help we can give will help continue to make this a great tool.
We have been working with the UNE RamSelect team (we have been suggesting, they have been doing!) to make some improvements - great to see these minor improvements that will help manage ram teams in the future - eID now an option.
"Towards NM sheep" PDS - top day with NE Vic "TNM sheep" group discussing genetics, management, & breech wrinkle scoring progeny from different rams @ Toland Merinos. Chloe Bunter #mla covered DNA flock profile & RamSelect tools & how to use to benchmark & track genetic gain.
Clovernook Poll Merino On-property Ram Sale 1pm Thursday 4th Feb. 40 of these chunky boys go under the hammer. The season sure has tested them but they are looking great! Over 1200mm of rain last year and over 600mm on their backs since shearing. #merino#asbv
Buying Rams this spring??? Check out RamSelect, this powerful tool allows you to identify the potential ram purchases that is matched to your own breeding objective. Find the right rams for you at ramselect.com.au
The old SG website must be made available again, until the new one is fit for purpose.
It is clearly not ready yet.
Begs the question “Where is ramselect?”
Seems like duplication again.
I think a fair bit of it is inexperience. Had a reasonable go at it this morning and it was ok, not great. My issue is the wasted space. Should have left the graphical stuff to RamSelect. Too hard to see a longer list of rams. Still failed to get a semen available list by breed.
demonstrate a range of processes, introduction to a range of industry programs eg. AskBill, RamSelect . Looking forward to the student feedback following a hectic week (and then hopefully a sleep!)
At South West Slopes Sheep Breeders “Flocks for the Future” with Tim Hufton (spoke on his work with @sallymartin777 doing Flock Profile in @MerinoLink DNA project & RamSelect) & Dr Jane Littlejohn (gave an update on @woolinnovation R&D). Also heard from @EmKingAU & Sally Martin.
“#FlockProfile really helped us to work out what we had in our flock & where we had to make improvements. It helped with ram purchases & targeting rams that were better than our previous flock & ram team averages." -Karl Witt. ow.ly/22dD50uNWr2#RamSelect @NeogenCorp
