Just a little reflection for anyone else feeling the "Holiday Scaries" post a mini-break.
Today is one of those days when I find myself mentally reluctant to tackle anything. Usually, on such occasions, I allow myself the necessary rest. However, after two weeks filled with the constant cycle of packing, unpacking, and setting up my new place, along with the Holiday celebrations, I've come to understand that my current fatigue isn't physical; rather, it's my body's response to returning to work.
Let me clarify—I genuinely love the work I do and my research. But, after a long break from work, the thought of diving back in can be overwhelming. It's an emotional response that I've come to recognize in myself.
Some of you may relate to this, especially if you were fortunate enough to have a break from work for the holidays, so please be kind to yourself. Notice how your body is responding and treat it with compassion and empathy.
If you can relate and experience similar days where you sense a disparity between physical and mental exhaustion, acknowledge it. Be kind to yourself, but also gather the strength to push through. Try engaging in a simple task that doesn't demand much energy but can leave you feeling accomplished for breaking through the initial resistance.
