Maintenance costs are not trivial, even with AI help. I run a rocketpool node, which is even easier as all upgrades etc are streamlined for you, and even then there's frequently things to do (not hard, but they are there). I still recommend it! But it's not as easy as lido.

Ethereum is the only chain that you can profitably be a solo validator. DVT, Rocketpool, Lido CSM all reduce the 32 ETH barrier to entry. Everyone can contribute to validator distribution and WWIII-proofness. No tribalism, it's just an awesome fact.

wdym solo stakers get priced out? It costs ~$50/year in electricity to run a node. Even the smallest node an 8ETH Rocketpool node earns ~$500/year at current prices.

There is zero need to modify Ethereum's staking curve. None. Who decides that 1/3 of ETH staked is the right number? I believe that it should be 2/3. Why? Because that is what a network capable of trillion dollar security will require. It will need to be utterly unassailable. Institutional stakers will stake regardless of the yield. Solo stakers are largely priced out already with many moving to leveraged staking on Lido or Rocketpool to squeek out a few extra bps. The question that needs answering is "what is the percentage of ETH staked that is required to support the entire onchain economy in a manner that nis bulletproof for 1000 years?" Nobody is asking that question.
