Special Assistant to the Chief Minister on Human Rights Rajvir Singh Sodha, visited the Ibtida Safe House, Korangi, operated jointly by Al Dua NGO and the Women Development Department, District Korangi, Karachi, to review the human rights situation of women residing at the facility.
Assistant Director WDD Mr. Imran Shaikh and Ms. Humaira, along with Ms. Humaira (Chairperson, Al Dua Relief Foundation), warmly welcomed the SACM and presented him with a commemorative shield.
Chairperson Sindh Commission on the Status of Women (SCSW), Advocate Rubina Brohi; Director Human Rights, Mr. Agha Fakhur Hussain; and other officials accompanied him during the visit.
Rajvir Singh Sodha directed the Director Human Rights to extend necessary assistance and ensure protection of the human rights of women residing in the safe house.
Later, Rajvir Singh Sodha visited Panah Shelter Home, operated by the Courage Development Foundation, located in Federal B Area, District Central Karachi. The Board of Trustees, including Justice (R) Majida Rizvi (Chairperson, Panah), Mrs. Uzma Noorani (General Secretary), Mrs. Nadira Panjwani (Treasurer), and other members, welcomed him and provided a detailed briefing on the services and activities of Panah Trust. Mr. Sodha appreciated the efforts of Panah Shelter Home in providing protection and rehabilitation services to women in need.
He paid tribute to Justice (R) Majida Rizvi as a distinguished human rights defender and commended her lifelong struggle for women’s rights.
