ALT From emerging scientific talent to established research leaders, the 31st ICGEB Annual Symposium celebrated the people and principles driving scientific excellence. The meeting highlighted the value of cross-disciplinary collaboration and the importance of mentorship in nurturing future leaders. Newcomers to the Symposium commented on the impressive amount of data behind the results presented, and the depth of investigation across different areas of research. Alongside scientific presentations, participants strengthened their communication skills, gaining valuable experience in presenting their work to an international audience.

At the ongoing Institute for Human Development International Conference, #IamAPHRC’s @OtwatePaul will present findings from APHRC's Knowledge, Attitudes, and Practices (KAP) study on community perceptions of neuroimaging technologies and their potential role in advancing research on child brain development in Kenya.
The study found that while awareness of common imaging technologies such as X-rays and ultrasound is high, knowledge of MRI remains limited.
Nearly half of caregivers associated neuroimaging with health and safety risks, which guided community engagements to challenge misconceptions and promote acceptance.

June 4 has always been special to me.
It is the birthday of Mrs. Matilda Amissah-Arthur, my former Logic teacher at Presec, Legon, whose friendship, kindness, and support have shaped my life for decades.
It is also a date that changed Ghana’s history, reminding us of the enduring values of integrity, accountability, and national service.
On June 4, 2025, I was sworn in as Chair of the Governing Board of the Ghana National Research Fund. Today marks one year in that role as we prepare for the official launch of the GNRF on June 16.
As Ghana looks to the future, research, innovation, and human capital must be at the centre of our national development agenda.
Happy Birthday, Mrs. Matilda Amissah-Arthur.
