What an absolutely fabulous crowd for today’s “Special Interests for Democracy” Rally outside the Nova Scotia Legislative Assembly (Province House) earlier today against
@TimHoustonNS & Nova Scotia’s
@NSPC Tory government attacks on our democracy, our climate/environment, our social programs, and so much more.
Tim Houston has repeatedly called anyone who speaks out against his Tory agenda and his Trump-like attacks on our democratic traditions “special interests”.
These many, many folks and the organizations they represent are special, certainly, to me, but not in the way that Tim Houston has continually disparaged them — and the many many issues they care about, from fracking to income supports to Houston’s attack on democracy at the Legislature, and so much more.
Deepest thanks to the many organizations who came together to build today’s rally, as well as to the adhoc planning committee that’s been doing the “behind the scenes” work for some time, and to the amazing
@RobinTress for MC’ing and starting off the rally (folks will hear Robin’s voice throughout this video while she began the rally/demonstration with a short but sharp speech).
It is bizarre and head spinning times, politically.
And often disorienting times, with struggles at all levels of government, made more complicated by the Trump Administration south our borders.
It’s so wonderful to see folks take the streets and stand together in protest, shoulder to shoulder, from our collective movement(s) for social, economic, and climate justice.
As always, deeply proud to see many union flags amongst us today, and so many dear friends and comrades, far too numerous to mention.
