From IMS Ghaziabad - University Courses Campus to UEF - Đại học Kinh tế Tài chính TP.HCM - UEF Vietnam: The Art of International Internship (and the Vietnamese Siesta!) 🇮🇳🇻🇳😄
One of the greatest myths in international education is that students travel abroad only to learn from classrooms, projects, and meetings.
The reality is that some of the most important lessons come from adapting to a completely different culture, lifestyle, and work environment.
Over the past few days, Kaushlendra Pathak , Abhay Tiwari, and Rudransh Bindra , our pioneering interns from IMS Ghaziabad - University Courses Campus, India, have been fully immersed in life at the UEF - Khoa Kinh Tế - Faculty of Economics, UEF - Đại học Kinh tế Tài chính TP.HCM - UEF Vietnam. They have been contributing to research projects, supporting faculty initiatives, attending meetings, exploring new ideas, and experiencing first-hand what it means to work in a dynamic international environment.
What they perhaps did not anticipate, however, was the combination of the Vietnamese work ethic and the Vietnamese weather! 😊
After adapting to early mornings, intensive project work, multiple assignments, cross-cultural learning, and the tropical climate of Ho Chi Minh City, our interns now appear to have successfully mastered one of Vietnam's most respected workplace traditions — the afternoon siesta.
As today's photographs demonstrate, cultural integration is progressing exceptionally well. In fact, if adaptation were measured by one's ability to enjoy a well-earned post-lunch power nap, I would confidently say that they are now operating at near-local standards! 😄
Jokes aside, these moments tell a much bigger story.
International internships are not merely about adding a line to a CV. They are about developing the resilience to work outside one's comfort zone, the adaptability to succeed in unfamiliar environments, and the cultural intelligence required to thrive in an increasingly interconnected world. Every early morning, every project deadline, every challenge overcome, and every new friendship formed contributes to a learning experience that no textbook can fully replicate.
It has been a pleasure watching these young professionals embrace both the opportunities and challenges that come with living and working in Vietnam. Their enthusiasm, willingness to learn, and positive attitude have already made them valued members of our UEF - Đại học Kinh tế Tài chính TP.HCM - UEF community.
My sincere appreciation goes to IMS Ghaziabad - University Courses Campus for their trust and partnership in this initiative, and to my colleagues at UEF - Đại học Kinh tế Tài chính TP.HCM - UEF Vietnam for warmly welcoming and mentoring our interns throughout their journey.
After all, successful internationalisation is not only about moving students across borders. It is about helping them feel at home when they arrive.
And judging by today's scene, I would say our interns are settling in just fine. 😊
From classrooms in India to projects in Vietnam, the journey continues — learning, adapting, growing, and occasionally recharging, one siesta at a time.
