@AIatMeta wants AI to build VR
Meta has just introduced an integrated AI workflow for the Immersive Web SDK, its open-source framework for building VR experiences on the web. The idea is simple and ambitious: describe what you want, and the AI writes the code, tests interactions, and fixes bugs along the way.
🌐 The most interesting part is that this is built around WebXR. So this is not a closed pipeline only for headsets or proprietary environments, but a browser-based VR workflow that can be shared through a link, without app store friction or downloads. Meta also says that more than 1 million users per month engage with WebXR experiences on Quest.
⚙️ The key point is not just “AI writes code.” The system tries to close the loop: the agent can inspect the scene, interact with objects, simulate XR inputs, test outcomes, and iterate until it finds a solution. That makes it feel much closer to a technical collaborator than a simple autocomplete tool.
🧩 Meta also says it rebuilt Project Flowerbed, one of its existing WebXR showcase experiences, from the ground up in about 15 hours using this agentic workflow and existing creative assets. That does not mean the process is magical, but it clearly shows the direction: less technical friction and much faster prototyping.
🧠 Personally, this is the most interesting part to me. When AI starts not only writing, but also testing and correcting inside 3D and spatial environments, we are no longer just talking about assisted coding. We are moving into a phase where a prompt can genuinely become the starting point of a full interactive experience.
