[PHOTOS] 📸 Today, The DPWI Director-General , Sifiso Mdakane, together with the Joint Select Committee on the Financial Management of Parliament (JSCFMP), conducted a final oversight visit to the Dome to assess its overall readiness ahead of upcoming parliamentary sittings. This visit follows the initial walk-About that took place on Friday, 13 February 2026, during which it was resolved that a final follow-up oversight visit would be conducted today. The Dome facility will be officially operational from tomorrow, 17 February 2026, in time for the SONA Debates and thereafter. The Director-General was accompanied by the Deputy Director-General: Finance Management, Riaan Botha; the Director: Projects (Cape Town), Ms Thembeka Kolele; the Chief Construction Project Manager: Cape Town (Dome Project), Mr Siyamthanda Ndwandwa; and the Chief Construction Project Manager, Ms Akulule Ndonyana. #WorksAtWork #ParliamentReadiness #OversightVisit @ParliamentofRSA

This morning, the Minister of Public Works and Infrastructure,@DeanMacpherson , conducted an oversight inspection of the ongoing repairs and renovations to “The Dome” located next to Parliament in Cape Town. The visit formed part of efforts to ensure that the facility is fully prepared to host the 2026 State of the Nation Address and to serve as the temporary home of Parliament until the new Parliamentary building currently under construction are completed. The reconstruction of National Assembly building itself is done entirely by parliament and the department has no involvement in it. The adjustments being implemented are at the request of Parliament to ensure that the facility meets long-term operational requirements. The Ministery will receive daily progress reports and conduct weekly inspections to ensure that the project remains within budget and on schedule. #WorksAtWork #ANationThatWorksForAll #LetsBuildSA
