so after all that, i tried to explain it to her in the simplest way possible. ZK proofs are basically just a way to prove something is true without revealing the actual information behind it. that’s it. but the more u think about that idea, the crazier it gets. bcz it means we could eventually have an internet where u actually own your data, where privacy isn’t some extra feature u have to pay for or manually turn on. it just exists by default. we’re still really early though, the math behind all this is genuinely difficult but the people building in this space are moving insanely fast right now. by the end of it my friend just looked at me & went “okay wait… i actually get it now & that’s kind of insane.” honestly, that was enough for me. learn this stuff early, most people still have no idea what’s quietly being built underneath all the noise #ZKProofs #ZeroKnowledgeProofs #Crypto

I spent the last few days getting deep into @MidnightNtwrk, a data-protection blockchain from Input Output (the team behind #Cardano), and I want to share everything I learned so other developers don't hit the same walls I did. 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝗠𝗶𝗱𝗻𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁? Midnight is a blockchain where smart contracts can work with private data. Instead of publishing everything on-chain, you publish a cryptographic Zero-Knowledge Proof that says "I know the secret data that satisfies these rules", without revealing the data itself. Validators verify the proof, not re-execute the code. This is a fundamental shift in how on-chain computation works. A version mismatch causes a silent transport error that's hard to diagnose. The wallet's .start() method must be called before you wait for sync. Without it, the Observable never emits and your script hangs forever with no error message. DUST (Midnight's gas token) is not purchased, it's automatically minted by the protocol from your tNight balance after you register your UTXOs. This is unique and confusing at first.
