this was one of the earliest talks in my speaking career and i'm pretty proud of it even tho it didnt catch fire at the time. feel like i really nailed the problem area and had good analogies. super glad @drnugent and team gave me a shot for @forwardJS :) :) :)

Some drawbacks of a functional style:
- easy to write slow code
- easy to eat up memory
- can be more verbose
- use of Immutable data structures to guarantee purity can add API/JS bloat (see my @forwardJS talk)
