🌐As global intelligent computing clusters enter the “ten-thousand GPU era” and accelerate toward deployments at the scale of hundreds of thousands of GPUs, communication bottlenecks in traditional single-server eight-GPU architectures have become increasingly prominent in large model training. The industry is rapidly shifting toward supernode architectures with stronger interconnect capabilities. 📶Recently, leveraging the OISA (Omni-directional Intelligent Sensing and Interconnection) collaborative innovation platform, Moore Threads, #ChinaMobile, and Zhijiang Lab, together with other industry partners, jointly released the OISA High-Density Supernode Reference Design Technical Specification. This initiative provides a systematic technical framework for building autonomous, high-performance intelligent computing clusters. 💡The specification significantly enhances computing density per unit space by redesigning the physical layout and interconnection topology of intelligent computing centers. Computing infrastructure is a critical foundation for building Digital China and the core engine of new-type productivity. #ChinaMobile will develop a coordinated system for computing, energy, and ecosystem growth to accelerate the advancement of new-type productivity. By fully promoting computing–electricity coordination, the company aims to establish a green and efficient “hard foundation.”In terms of spatial coordination, a differentiated layout based on the principle of “electricity determining computing” is being implemented. Western computing nodes are energy-oriented, building green computing parks with integrated generation, grid, load, and storage, supporting direct power supply between computing centers and wind-solar power plants. Eastern computing nodes offset carbon emissions by using green electricity quotas from the western regions. China Mobile is also establishing a nationwide unified “Green Power Certificate” system to support cross-provincial verification of green electricity consumption for computing, creating a platform that underpins dual carbon control and efficient nationwide green power dispatch. #GreenComputing reaches new heights: #NTUsg researchers are shooting for the stars with a bold idea: carbon-neutral data centres in space, powered by endless solar energy and cooled by the vacuum of space. Published in Nature Electronics, the study is led by Prof Wen Yonggang, NTU Associate Provost (Graduate Education) and Alibaba-NTU President’s Chair in Computer Science and Engineering. It explores how orbital servers could meet soaring #AI and computing demand without draining land or energy resources. To test the concept, the team worked with NTU spin-off Red Dot Analytics to create a digital twin simulating power use, solar generation and cooling efficiency.
