🎥 ECPS Interview / VIDEO 📘 Dr. Laura Rovelli: Milei’s Anti-Science and Denialist Policies Undermine Argentina’s Scientific Institutions ✍️ Interview by Selcuk Gultasli 🇦🇷🔬 Argentina’s knowledge ecosystem is in crisis. In this powerful ECPS video interview, Dr. Laura Rovelli (@_CLACSO, CONICET & UNLP) explains how President Javier Milei’s libertarian government is dismantling the core pillars of public science, universities, and evidence-based policy. ⚠️ “The government has deployed anti-science and denialist rhetoric that seeks to discredit and undermine the institutions of science and higher education,” says Dr. Rovelli. Key points highlighted in the video: 📉 Drastic budget cuts to science & education 🧪 Frozen research careers 🏛️ Dismantling of science and human-rights agencies 📚 Attacks on universities accused of “ideological capture” 🌎 Denialist narratives on gender, inequality & climate change 📌 Dr. Rovelli situates Milei’s policies within global far-right currents—from Trump to Bolsonaro—while underscoring their distinctively anti-national dimension in Argentina. She also highlights vibrant networks of resistance: unions, students, feminist movements, and academic coalitions defending public knowledge and democracy. 🎯 A must-watch for scholars and practitioners studying populism, democratic erosion, and the politics of knowledge. ▶️ Watch the video: youtube.com/watch?v=pcgJP9EB… 📖 Read the interview: populismstudies.org/dr-rovel… #Argentina #JavierMilei #AcademicFreedom #ScienceUnderThreat #HigherEducationCrisis #Populism #DemocraticBacksliding #KnowledgeCommons #LatinAmericaPolitics #ECPS

I just read this very interesting piece - @krvarshney suggests, that AI alignment be decolonialized using three forms of openness: openness of models, openness to society, and openness to excluded knowledges. #knowledgecommons #opensource #AI
