At WWDC 2026 on June 8, Apple officially confirmed for the first time that some of its Apple Intelligence features run on NVIDIA GPUs — a significant disclosure for a company known for its insistence on controlling its own hardware stack. Apple's AI executive Amar Subramanya stated that the company works with both Google and NVIDIA to extend its Private Cloud Compute infrastructure to NVIDIA GPUs in Google's cloud, "while maintaining Apple's unmatched privacy guarantees." Apple's most powerful cloud AI offering, AFM Cloud Pro, runs on NVIDIA Blackwell B200 GPUs within Google Cloud and is described by Apple as comparable in capability to Google's own frontier Gemini models. Privacy was the key engineering challenge. Apple approved NVIDIA's confidential compute technology, a security feature built into NVIDIA GPUs that encrypts data and AI models while they are being processed — enabling cloud-scale inference without compromising Apple's privacy commitments, though with a minor performance overhead. On-device, the picture is fully Apple's own. are you sure? the logs for this request do say it was done with privatecloudcompute, unless im reading it wrong. im pretty sure it uses private cloud compute when it can for certain features, then falls back to on device if there is no connection

Ok review done: Apple have put effort into #PCC (#PrivateCloudCompute), but it's not #homomorphically encrypted. The ONLY way to deliver PCC properly is to solve the computational tractability problems with & properly implement #HomomorphicEncryption. Until then, its all BS.
