Good work in today. Started with ankle stiffness, hip control, and COD work, then got into hurdle hops, lateral cuts, Inside Zone reads, pass pro, and screen breakoffs. Really focused on being patient to the hole, staying square, changing pad level, and making every move violent and intentional. Back to work today after meniscus surgery. Just thankful to be back moving again. Kept things controlled and focused on the details. Started on the field getting the knee moving with some rhythm runs and working arm swing and stride patterns. Added some short burst 5-yard sprints, 3 with the sled and 3 without, focusing on staying low, sprint angles, and low heel recovery since we’re not opening up to full speed yet. Finished up in the gym with single-leg strength work, step-ups, RDLs, belt squats, hip bridges, and calves to keep building strength and stability. With team workouts ramping up, along with track, 7v7, and speed & agility, there isn’t a lot of clean time to get in RB-specific work or an extra gym day to address imbalances and weak points. With a team lift this morning and track coming Thursday, today wasn’t about lifting heavy. It was about ankle stiffness, posture, and reactive ground contact — the small details that support speed without adding fatigue. The goal stays the same: get faster, maintain weight (or add a little), and stay shifty. That doesn’t always come from more volume. Sometimes it comes from being intentional when the week is already heavy. It’s not easy showing up day in and day out when motivation dips and the body is tired and sore. But understanding what you want — and what it actually takes to get there — calls for discipline when motivation isn’t there. That’s the work most people don’t see. Sunday speed work focused on form, takeoff mechanics, and acceleration efficiency. The goal of the session was to clean up the details that matter most in the first 10 yards—ankle stiffness, hip mobility, drive-phase mechanics, and arm swing—so acceleration becomes more efficient and repeatable. Rather than forcing speed, the emphasis was on quality reps, proper ground contact, and using the body as one connected system. After the technical work, Elijah posted a 1.64 10-yard split, a clear improvement and a solid checkpoint in this phase. Right now the priority is mastering the first 10 yards, building consistency, and stacking clean reps before shifting focus to longer sprint distances and top-end speed.
