The University of Nottingham a Russell Group institution has been rocked by a major cyberattack. Hackers breached the Campus Solutions student records system at the end of May. What was exposed? Contact information. Course details. Financial records. NI numbers. Protected characteristics. The full identity theft starter pack. And the kicker, the breach wasn't detected until Tuesday June 9. That's well over a week, possibly two where a group of cybercriminals calling themselves the Shinyhunters were inside the system, hoovering up the personal and financial data of thousands of students, completely undetected.
