'I’m truly bowled over by the outpouring of support and affection since revealing my dementia diagnosis.
'Receiving a dementia diagnosis can turn your world upside down, but I really do believe it’s better to know.
'Too many people are experiencing delays in diagnosis - on average 3.5 years - meaning they’re left in limbo without the help they need.
'An early diagnosis can open the door to treatment, support, care and the chance to take part in research that could change the future.
'People living with dementia and their families have waited long enough for change. We must demand better for everyone affected.
'I would urge everyone to join me in signing Alzheimer’s Society’s open letter calling on government to deliver a bold and ambitious plan for dementia.’

If you fund a service that can afford to meet ‘wants’ then fine. At the moment the NHS can’t reliably meet needs.
You’re setting expectations of caviar but funding mushy peas.
A message for @wesstreeting
We know you’re busy with residents, and probably consultants soon, but could you spare a few hours to have GP chats please?
Basically, we need you to say ‘get on with it’. We know what we’re doing and we know how to do it. By all means chuck in a few useful parameters such as personal lists and continuity, which have a decent evidence base, but access requirements will only detract from GP-delivered care.
You need to trust us. I don’t know what you think our motivation is, but I can assure you it’s patient wellbeing.
This month- sadly - I step down from my GP partner role. Have been going through a lot on a personal level, I need to be a better husband and dad, and hopefully rediscover my love for General Practice. But fuck me Wes, you are not making it easy to find things to enjoy…🧵
profession needs to give 3 months notice of an indefinite walkout unless some reasonable demands: a promise to restore pay soon; reconstitution of the DDRB terms of reference which averted industrial action for so long; & making a sensible number of training places. Gloves off

Referrals aren't clinical summaries anymore. They’re legal arguments. They’re auditions for care.
What happens when a failing system decides a patient's pain isn't worth a consultation, but a performance.

Today's adventure in being a UK GP shows why the system is creaking.
Of 30 patients on my list today, 3 were GP problems; rest are waiting for definitive secondary care treatment.
Manager added our actual GP work (hypertension reviews) as extras because we have no time anymore.
Compulsory Advice and guidance… Get stuffed . As an experienced GP ,if i need advice i will ask,if not i won’t. There you go. If the trust refuses to see patient then my advocacy means i will do WHATEVER is necessary , local MP/local/national press.
Wes Streeting Vs GPs
& “Moaning Minnies” 🧐
We GPs & practices have offered millions of online consult requests for months - years for many of us - this isn’t news
What is news, is that F2F GP appts are down. Pts will have to wait longer to see their GP.

@wesstreeting
Houston we have a problem.
The practice that is being touted by the government as the way to do online access has itself failed to provide access.
Video will be removed in 3.....2.....1....
Like many GP practices Dr Katz’s practice has turned off online access before 6.30pm
Why? @wesstreeting@SKinnock@DHSCgovuk
Because GPs need time to read requests before they shut for the day
This was the practice is highlighted as a beacon of what can be done
GPC England chair to face vote of no confidence amid contract changes row!
Those responsible for this vote are more likely to destroy the future of GPs by creating division
@doctor_katie is doing an amazing job in he midst of awful times for GPs pulsetoday.co.uk/news/politi…
Dragged back onto this site to check rumours - @doctor_katie getting a VoNC?
Hugely impressive person to work with for five years, no idea who anyone believes could do a better job in these circumstances 🤨
Turn the vote of no confidence into a vote of support!

Goodbye Allan. You were a pioneer of great children's literature, both in picture books and poetry. You were clever, funny and wise. My children loved your books. So did and so DO I.

It is essential that the government move quickly to define how practice based funding will change post a new contract. It’s too easy to get carried away with neighbourhoods and not consider the current pressures & impact at practice level. To thrive needs certainty
