Citizens who defend animals and fulfill their constitutional duty under Article 51A(g) are facing 𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝘀, 𝘃𝗶𝗼𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲, 𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗶𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻. Across the country, animals continue to be subjected to cruelty, exploitation, and killing, while meaningful legal reform remains stalled. At the same time, India continues to be among the world's largest exporters of buffalo meat, and animals continue to be sacrificed in the name of tradition and superstition, despite Article 51A(h) calling upon citizens to develop a scientific temper, humanism, and the spirit of inquiry and reform. A minister entrusted with animal welfare should be leading reform, strengthening protections, and standing with the vulnerable 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗽𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝘆𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗱𝗲𝗹𝗮𝘆 𝘄𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗲 𝗰𝗿𝘂𝗲𝗹𝘁𝘆 𝗲𝘀𝗰𝗮𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗲𝘀. A Kokrajhar Court has sentenced an individual to one year of rigorous imprisonment for the brutal killing of a community dog in the Patgaon area. How can it be called welfare if healthy community dogs are proposed to be confined for years potentially for life- in small enclosures with severely restricted freedom of movement, limited environmental stimulation, and a life that resembles imprisonment rather than welfare? At a time when India claims to be moving toward scientific temper, compassion, and modern animal welfare standards, retaining legal exemptions for animal suffering raises serious moral and policy concerns. The contradiction becomes even more striking 𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝗮𝘂𝘁𝗵𝗼𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗶𝘀𝘀𝘂𝗲 𝗮𝗱𝘃𝗶𝘀𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝘀𝗹𝗮𝘂𝗴𝗵𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗵𝗼𝘂𝘀𝗲𝘀 𝗼𝗻 𝗵𝗼𝘄 𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗺𝗮𝗹𝘀 𝘀𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝗯𝗲 𝗸𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗱 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 "𝗹𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗽𝗮𝗶𝗻." Mass poisoning of community dogs reported from Aastha Green Society, Greater Noida West. At least eight small puppies have allegedly been targeted. Medical records of a 4 month old puppy taken to the clinic confirm severe symptoms including hyperthermia (103.4°F), lethargy, and swelling in the throat and mouth region, with a documented history of poisoning. UNVERIFIED ALLEGATIONS CANNOT JUSTIFY TAKING A PET FROM HIS HOME! An Indie pet dog was allegedly seized from inside a caregiver's home in KA Block, Kaushambi, Ghaziabad, based solely on unverified biting allegations. Who authorized this? Since when can a pet be taken away from its home without evidence, due process, a proper inquiry, or a legal order? Homes are not open hunting grounds for RWAs, and pets are not objects that can be confiscated on the basis of allegations alone. This raises serious concerns about abuse of authority, violation of citizens' rights, and the safety and welfare of animals. No pet should be taken away on the basis of unverified claims without a fair and transparent inquiry. An immediate investigation is required to determine exactly what happened, who authorized the action, and whether established legal procedures were followed. If any individual or authority has acted beyond their legal powers, accountability must follow. Further, if a dog-bite allegation has been made, the complainant should be required to provide the relevant medical and rabies treatment records to support the claim. Any false complaint intended to harass residents or remove animals from their homes must also be investigated and dealt with according to law. The truth must come out. Due process cannot be replaced by intimidation, pressure, or arbitrary action.
