Today, the Ghana Statistical Service successfully launched the District-Level Multidimensional Poverty Incidence and Ranking Factsheets for all 261 districts in Ghana from 2021 to 2025. For the first time in Ghana’s history, we now have comparable multidimensional poverty estimates for every district over multiple years. This is a major step forward for evidence-based planning and local development. The findings show that poverty is not only about income. It is also about access to education, healthcare, decent housing, jobs, clean water, sanitation, and opportunities. The data shows progress, but also major inequalities across districts. Out of 261 districts, 250 recorded reductions in multidimensional poverty between 2021 and 2025. Wa West recorded the largest improvement, while Yunyoo Nasuan recorded the highest poverty incidence in 2025 at 51.6%. Ayawaso North Municipal recorded the lowest at 5.5%. The message from today’s launch was clear: the rankings must guide action, not stigma. The findings should inform planning, DACF allocations, social protection, infrastructure investment, education, healthcare, and job creation. We sincerely thank Hon. Thomas Ampem Nyarko for chairing the event on behalf of the Minister for Finance, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, Dr. Anthony Yaw Baah, Hon. Isaac Adongo, Hon. Jerry Ahmed Shaib, Hon. Dr. Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings, development partners, Parliament, panelists, stakeholders, and the hardworking staff of GSS for making this important national exercise possible. Let us use the evidence to reduce inequalities and ensure that no district and no community is left behind. #GSS #MultidimensionalPoverty #localplanning #DataForDevelopment #InclusiveDevelopment #EvidenceBasedPolicy #LeaveNoOneBehind
