Surely I can't be the only one who found @GRobinsonDUP using his Parliamentary privilege during #PMQs to repeat the sort of fear-mongering rhetoric the far-right uses about immigrants that fuelled last night's horrible scenes in Belfast?

Makerfield has made the rules about broadcast coverage of
elections and by-elections a complete farce, though nobody seems to agree what the rules are anyway. But giving Burnham big coverage then listing the other contenders is just absurd.

I'm from Makerfield, and all Burnham has done is annoy me.
He's using my constituency as a test case for his latest leadership bid.
If he loses, he's still Mayor of Manchester, while we in Makerfield are left w\ sexist bigot Robert Kenyon.

Given he's my MP and has now put the constituency I live in under risk of having someone from Reform UK elected to be the new one, I'd be very interested to know what Josh Simons has been promised in order to give up his seat and by whom?

For decades, Westminster has overseen the managed decline of towns like mine. We have talked big, then acted small, stuck in a politics of incrementalism that cannot meet the moment. We have lost the trust of those our party was built to serve.
It is my unwavering belief that nothing short of urgent, radical, courageous reform will make a difference. That must start with a change in leadership.
Today, I am putting the people I represent and the country I love first and will be resigning as MP for Makerfield. I am standing aside so that Andy Burnham can return to his home, fight to re-enter Parliament, and if elected, drive the change our country is crying out for.
This has not been an easy decision. This is my family’s home, where only a few weeks ago, doctors and nurses at Wigan Infirmary saved our newborn son’s life.
But we all must make choices and in recent days I found myself with a difficult one: defend the status quo or step forward and act. I have made my choice.
I am in politics because politics is how you change lives for the better. My party has one last chance to do that: deliver for the people and places I represent, drive economic growth, secure our borders, reform our state and politics, and change a status quo that is not working.
That is the fight. I believe Andy is the one to lead it.

The thing that annoys me is that I'm now going to have to vote for Labour in this by-election in order to keep Reform UK out because the @LibDems will put John Skipton up AGAIN and @TheGreenParty haven't ever fielded a viable candidate in Makerfield.

Really annoys me to hear Robert Jendrick on #bbqt saying "this is the end of two-party politics" because "the two main parties have let the country down" when he, Braverman and Lee Anderson were very much a part of the @Conservatives' 14-year govt between 2010-24.
