They only pay themselves a low wage as that what they actually pay tax on, then they pay themselves dividends as they are taxed at a far lower rate!

. @realDonaldTrump has picked Tulsi Gabbard - effectively a Russian spy - to be the big boss of the CIA. To those British politicians who support Trump, think again. @Nigel_Farage: if you carry on backing Trump, there’s only one place for you. The Tower. #VPDFO!

Is it... A) John Smyth, the actual paedophile? B) Boris Johnson? Or C) Meghan Markle? James O'Brien wonders who you think the Daily Mail has 'managed to blame' for Justin Welby 'failing to alert authorities about the barrister's abuse'.

I'm getting the hang of the Starmer era now. As long as the media are upset and flailing around looking for absurd stuff to attack him with, he's quietly doing fine, and by fine, I mean fearlessly and doggedly pissing off the all right people. I'm quite getting into it.

It was a good week to be Labour. While the US welcomed back the far right, Starmer’s government took 6 important steps towards a fairer country. The list:

Millionaires: THE BUDGET IS A DISASTER! Millionaire Farmers: THE BUDGET IS A DISASTER! Bank of England: 0.25% interest rate cut, making thousands of mortgages cheaper for working people. Open your eyes people. It's time to stop listening to millionaires when it comes to tax.

I want to tell you a story about an old man, with a silly name and ridiculous hair, who was born in New York, became a media personality and then a right wing politician. 🧵

The Times splashes on the views of James Dyson who thinks the Budget is really unfair to people like him. That’s a billionaire who backed Brexit then moved his firm to Singapore - and owns more than 30k acres of UK farmland. But you wouldn’t know any of that from this article.

Great start by Kemi Badenoch - she thinks that defending Partygate and opposing NHS investment is the way to win back voters. This is going to be fun. #BBCLauraK

The government are going after the super rich. The likes of James Dyson - who owns 14,600 hectares of British farmland and Anders Holch Povlsen, who reportedly owns ca 89,000 hectares of Scotland. Despite being worth tens of millions neither estate WAS liable for inheritance tax.

We’ve had years of very rich people telling us they’ll leave the country - from their foreign homes - while avoiding most of their taxes Time to focus on the 68 million who don’t have foreign homes - millions don’t own any home - and who do pay all their taxes #Budget2024

Today you will hear a lot about broken Labour promises from the Conservatives. So here’s a little reminder of theirs: David Cameron “we have absolutely no plans to raise VAT” They raised it from 17.5% to 20% David Cameron “I wouldn’t change child benefit, I wouldn’t means test it” They means tested it. David Cameron “We have no plans to scrap the educational maintenance allowance” They scrapped it. George Osbourne “we will reduce the deficit and get debt under control” They didn’t. Boris Johnson “we will build 300k homes a year” They didn’t. Boris Johnson “we will end rough sleeping” They didn’t. Theresa May “we will ban no-fault evictions” They didn’t. Theresa May “we will ban conversion therapy” They didn’t. Boris Johnson “we will not raise income tax, VAT or National insurance” They did, to the highest levels in 70 years. Boris Johnson “we will build 40 new hospitals” They didn’t. Rishi Sunak “we will cut NHS waiting lists” They didn’t. David Cameron “we will end child poverty” They didn’t. In 2021/2022 1 in 3 children in the UK lived in poverty. #Budget2024

GOOD NEWS: £22.1b increase in day to day spending in the NHS That is money that can be spent on more staff and apparently…. “Thousands of new beds” It’s a relief. Details are scant, but safe to say access to healthcare will get better!

Am I the only one stunned that UK media has dared to make an equivalence between a few Taylor Swift tickets and 14 years of corruption in which our NHS and public services have been deliberately crippled and untold billions of our money stolen and given to crooked Tory donors?
