Mamdani: We’re doing a citywide campaign to highlight protections that we have for trans New Yorkers across the five boroughs, because there are far too many trans New Yorkers who have been made to feel that they don't enjoy the full protections of the law in this city,. We want to make clear that's not the case under our administration

Just a massive change in NYC's power grid this week. Getting almost no attention. A 350-mile transmission line bringing hydro-electric power from Canada to NYC is now live. Will provide enough electricity to power 1 million homes, bringing us to 40% renewable energy sources for the five boroughs. At last making up for the loss of Indian Point nuclear power plant, which used to provide 20% of our power. The Champlain Hudson Power Express took more than 12 years to build. It was a tough political fight. Now we need to win many more fights like this.
The completed Champlain Hudson Power Express brings a significant influx of cleaner energy to the city’s electric grid, which is mostly powered by fossil fuels. buff.ly/CcZFfNi

Here's a story national political media has missed: three Native women could make history this November. Deb Haaland, candidate for NM Governor, could become the first Native woman elected governor in US history. Peggy Flanagan (MN) and Mary Peltola (Alaska) could become the first two Native women senators.

This is similar to my theories about the virtues of a child monarch
Fran Lebowitz on Trump: “This person who is a pipsqueak of a person. He’s not a person. He’s not even a squirrel. And yet he affects the whole world. A squirrel would be a much better president. If he ran against a squirrel, I would vote for the squirrel”

Yes true and but also SISTER ACT is not just any old dumb comedy movie
How much stronger was our culture in the '90s? A dumb comedy movie would casually drop the best-ever harmonization (for real) of a classic Marian hymn. Arrangement by a gay Jewish guy, God bless him.

In Oregon, Democrats have a shot at supermajorities in both legislative chambers. They've got the Senate. In the House, it comes down to one seat—and they're still curing ballots. Democrat Lesly Muñoz has a tiny lead over Rep. Tracy Cramer. On Nov 15, just 34 votes. Now ~123.

I'm sorry, the old Nancy can't come to the phone right now.
The pandemic kept all of us from fully celebrating Pride here in the Lowcountry in 2020. But hopefully, as we finally begin to open back up, we can all come together to celebrate the challenges our LGBTQ has overcome, and the bright future ahead. #PrideMonth #Pride2021

Some pundits would rather revive old grievances than do any self-reflection. After VP Harris’s loss, we should be talking about how we bring people *into* our coalition, not who we kick to the curb.
