Heading into this week's Midwest heat wave, I wanted to post the current accumulated stress degree day map.
Calculated by adding degrees above 86°F for each day.
Example: if today is 95°F, 9 SDDs are accumulated
>140 SDDs could result in corn yield loss

Same for NW IA. Rotated acres that have not had any corn rootworm protection over the last few years are the fields to especially scout. I’m seeing some of the highest CRW pressure in years. @BayerTraits @DKCAsgrowNWIA @Asgrow_DEKALB

Not the least bit surprising - K deficiency showing up in NW IA where the nodal roots are still in dry topsoil. K needs water to be taken up. Yellowed margins on lower leaves and stacked internodes evident. Watch stalk quality on these fields later. @DKCAsgrowNWIA @Asgrow_DEKALB

Fran Tarkenton is criminally underrated. This motherfucker was #1 in all-time passing yards when I was a kid. He’s STILL #14 all-time despite playing 14-game seasons in an era when you could perform UFC moves on receivers all the way down the field and if the QB looked for a flag after someone attempted to murder him he was considered a pussy by everyone including his wife. Fran was playing a different fucking sport, man, scrambling around for his goddamn life. Still #14. Absolute legend.
