So proud of how far we've come at @Eventida! Our pivot had us digging very deep, *really* exploring, asking ourselves, "what is the most impactful way we could achieve our mission of making the world more accessible and inclusive?" It became clear: it starts with the data. 📊

(1/3) We did it! When there are so many different possible directions to go in, it is not easy to decide where we want to go, but we finished an accelerator program, and now know exactly what direction we are headed in.

That nifty form you see? Where one fills in the message and it generates an email with PDF version of the letter attached? We @eventida set it up! TODAY is the deadline, please show your support for a #DCODHH!!

Deadline today to add your name to dcadeaf.org/odhh/ to tell @CMBrandonTodd you support a DC Office on the Deaf and Hard of Hearing to combat inaccessibility, unemployment, discrimination and more! 🤟 #DCODHH #CripTheVote #DCDeafCity

At Council today, young people are testifying in support of my bill to create a DC Office on Deaf & Hard of Hearing. We need to do more to elevate these voices & have the city do more to provide all residents the services & supports they need, especially better & more ASL.

I need to find statistics / info on quality of life for those with disabilities in countries in relation to government policy. Hypothesis: where there is policy, there is greater equity. Any idea where to find this info? @AXSChat, help? TIA!
This is deeply personal and hard to share publicly. Yes I'm too much for some people but that doesn't mean something is wrong with me. May the healing begin! #FemaleFounders #Partnerships #Cofounders impactmind.com/my-partner-is…

Having a nice day away from the desk, met a great guy, Jason of 3 Monkeys Communication. He's also on mission of accessibility and inclusion, focusing on DeafBlind. Great partner for @eventida! #DeafBusinessOwners #WeAllGoUpTogether #SmallBusinessWeekDC

After my tweet about Interpreter Appreciation Day, this lovely lady who I’ve gotten to know a bit through Instagram posted this. Thank you for being a shining example by expressing your gratitude to the Deaf community. More of this please!

Yep! I actually have been spending YEARS at a computer 60 hours a week. Then I realized that my job as a CEO is not internal but external - making the connections happen so that my team can focus on #CustomerService, #LifelongLearning and #Innovation.

When a CEO says they work 60 hours a week, it often includes a lot of email, Ubers to meetings, meetings, travel, phone calls, and more. I don't think designers, engineers, and many other roles could stare at a computer for 60 hours a week for a sustained period of time.
Do you know the right terminology to use for different disabilities and their assistive devices? Wonder if there’s a list somewhere that all groups agree is spot on.
Bus rider to me, a wheelchair user:”How long have you been wheelchair-bound?” Me:”I’m not.” Bus rider:”I don’t understand.” Me:”I know.” #DisabledSnark #WheelchairUnbound
#TruthTalk - I used to engage in #ageism until I realized that it wasn’t tech incompetence but attitude, which is true of all ages. Building a team of diverse, hard workers who have the right attitude will create better outcomes than a bunch of tech superstars.
😧Ageism in tech starts at 36 📉Funding raised drops by 40% after age 45 🍼Pregnancy & ageism create a double penalty for women How many opportunities are we missing by not having enough older founders and employees in tech? Thanks @Forbes @firstround ow.ly/lbpO50pQNi1

What are we seeing in this picture? @united has a catch-all "disabled" setting in their booking app so when a Deaf school's TRACK TEAM flew in to a competition, this is what was waiting for them. Oh, the irony! 😂🤣 Should be able to select specific accommodations, same as seats!

In order words, better than speed readers?
Deaf bilingual readers skip more words & have shorter fixation times than hearing bilingual and native readers & understand complex sentences with the same accuracy (>90%)- they are more efficient readers! work by @davidpaulcorina replicating Bélanger #CUNY2019

So many underestimated people lose out on their dreams simply bc they PLAY FAIR. Most of us don’t have the luxury of breaking the rules bc when white men do it, they get a penalty & sent back on the field. When WE do it, we get kicked out of the game. we’re ALL playing injured💆🏾‍♀️
