Government admits key final decisions on the SEND Tribunal have already been made, despite consultation on its SEND reforms being open till 18 May. It's at odds with ministers' statements on the consultation engaging people 'before any final decision'. lawgazette.co.uk/news/key-fi…

IPSEA echoes our own concerns about the SEND proposals—we’re astonished that some other disabled children’s charities seem to think loss of rights is just dandy… SEND reforms must strengthen legal rights, not weaken them - schoolsweek.co.uk/send-refor…

Those advocating for reduced powers for the SEND Tribunal always seem to forget that it is the current extensive powers that make the Tribunal an alternative remedy to judicial review. Doubt the SoS or her officials actually want to see school placement disputes in the High Court

All we are saying is that our disabled children have as much of a right to an education as their non-disabled brothers and sisters. Not difficult really.

Zero reference to the barriers still preventing thousands of disabled children and young people from accessing £Ms in their Child Trust Fund and JISA savings. Our forgotten children. Q: how many justice ministers does it take to fix 1 process? A: 10. It would be wry, were it not so sad and impactful on the 80,000 disabled young people who are losing £Ms from their savings. Sending families to court for 1 small savings account isn't working (still). @alextomo @jessiehewitson @paullewismoney @Moneybox @MartinSLewis @sarahsackman @DXW_KC @RoseUnwin @samcarlisle @campbellclaret @JohnMilneLD @JessBrownFuller @AlexChalkChelt @Emmabarnett @BBCr4today @rosaltmann @DCPcampaign @contactfamilies @vickyfoxcroft @martinimarie @JoshBabarinde @MoneySavingExp

"The real story of EHCPs is not runaway SEND prevalence, but the growing importance of statutory protection in the face of shrinking resources for inclusive mainstream provision... Children with SEND don’t just disappear through recategorisation." 👏

Are EHCPs driving the SEND crisis or a symptom of it? Is SEND demand in 2025 any larger than it was in 2010? Will scrapping EHCPs actually achieve anything productive? One of the best analyses of the SEND crisis I have read from @MargaretMulhol2 tes.com/magazine/analysis/ge…

Let’s be absolutely clear with the Chancellor. We do not need an “overhaul” of the 2 child limit. We need it scrapped. There are many other policy changes that are needed to end child poverty but this is the most effective first step. Stop prevaricating. theguardian.com/society/2025…

The law on #SEND isn’t failing. It’s being systematically undermined from within. Our new article for @SpcialNdsJungle examines how accountability in public office has broken down- and what it will take to restore it.

‘A lot of what is going on reflects one of the grimmest aspects of government: the way that changes with huge implications for millions of people are fuzzily dangled in front of them, with such a lack of clarification or certainty that it amounts to a kind of polite torture.’

Let’s see what the ethics adviser says, but maybe instead of all this jumping up and down, now would be a good time to discuss how we look after disabled children and build a more caring country.
Angela Rayner should be sacked immediately, but this weak Prime Minister is propping her up. It's one rule for them, another rule for everyone else.
