Landon Donovan does not have the kind of career that qualifies you to speak with this level of lazy contempt about other players and nations.

In the last three days we’ve played Strandhill, County Sligo, Narin & Portnoo and Cruit Island. The wind has got progressively stronger every round, it was a good 4-5 clubs at Cruit. It’s a great place for golf, and good value compared to more well known Irish locations too. Well worth getting on your radar if you’ve not been here before.

Great post! Also… if you Are a GOOD player… I don’t wana hear how good you are. Show me. Don’t tell me. I don’t care if your shafts are tipped 2” because your so fast, I don’t care if you drive it over 320 every time, just be a good person to be around 🙏🏼
Attention beginners & high-hcps who get paired with better players: I need to tell you a few things, bluntly. Because I want you to grow. Tough love, if you will. -I don’t care if you ‘don’t usually play this bad.’ -I don’t care if you chunk, shank, slice & skull. -I definitely don’t need play-by-play of every shot you hit. Truly, you don’t have to explain yourself. -I care if you are fun to be around. -I care if you disrupt the round. Slow, loud, complain, throw clubs. -I’m happy to share technique or equipment advice if you ask The scorecard goes in the trash. Your behavior is deposited to memory. Some of my favorite golf companions shoot 95, quickly. I leave pondering the laughs, stories, quips & insights, but never what they shot. (📷 credit @patrickjkoenig)

12 June 1981. The Specials released their classic No 1 single, Ghost Town in the UK, in the midst of the worst economic recession since the early 1930s.

Councils are warning England fans not to fly the St George’s Cross during the World Cup, claiming it is “unsafe” and bad for “community cohesion”. In England. During a World Cup. If you are offended by England’s flag, feel free to make your way to the nearest airport.

Probably the best advert for football & beer in the world: recorded in Dagenham in 2005 this is the Carlsberg Old Lions advert including the talents of Alan Ball, Peter Beardsley, Terry Butcher, Bobby Charlton, Jack Charlton, Stuart Pearce, Peter Reid, Bryan Robson, Peter Shilton, Chris Waddle, and Des Walker, with Sir Bobby Robson as manager.

I remember the World Cup coverage in 1994, it was filled with derisory coverage mocking Americans and their comical ignorance of football. Every single game seemed to be prefaced with someone from the media stopping random Americans in the street and laughing hysterically at their comical ignorance of football and the fact that they didn’t even know that the World Cup is happening, i genuinely thought 32 years later we would show some originality and try something different but i was wrong. I live in the US, I coach football out here and have been involved in football here for 15 years so I think i have a decent read on the game here. When you’re talking about Americans, you’re talking about Latino/Latina Americans, Asian Americans, European Americans, African Americans etc, do you honestly think these people are clueless about football? Why do you think the US is such a lucrative television market if nobody is watching it? I have yet to meet a single human being who isn’t aware that the World Cup is happening. Football and Basketball are the #1 youth participatory sports in the country, what do you think the parents of these kids are asking people like me? Americans already know they pay a price for being an American and liking football but still they show up at bars at 4am to watch it, they still pay fortunes and fly all over the world to watch the teams they love and young teenagers here are as well informed about football as anyone.

“Daddy, my daddy!” Jenny Agutter’s cry at the station is unforgettable to anyone who knows the 1970 British masterpiece (I don’t use that word lightly): The Railway Children directed by Lionel Jefferies. It’s his centenary and 29 years ago I talked to him. independent.co.uk/arts-enter…

Quick fact check ALL Somalians are banned from entry into 🇺🇸 FIFA know thisso why not simply assign the ref matches in 🇨🇦 or 🇲🇽 . You cannot make exceptions to national travel bans . ALL large International travel charters are asked to do tarmac checks when entering 🇺🇸.
