The real Trump derangement syndrome is his followers excusing everything he does that they would have been furious about had it been done by Biden or Obama. It's not mere hypocrisy, it's a cult. Iran is the latest example and one of the worst. My latest:
"Trump cannot be judged by the same metrics as any other president because he is so unlike every other president. Some will call this way of looking at things TDS. I call it recognizing reality." @Kasparov63 on Trump's Iran surrender and claims of TDS. thenextmove.org/p/calling-ou…

"You know, now that we shot 20,000 people in the streets and defeated the United States militarily, I really think we're ready to turn over a new leaf and reject violence"
Vice President JD Vance on Iran: “We are hearing from both Iranian hardliners and political leaders that the past 47 years of hostility with the United States have been a mistake, and that it is time to turn a new page.”

Trump said he demanded unconditional surrender, we just didn’t know he meant America’s.

I think the compromise consensus position for pretty much everybody of good faith should be that the full text of the agreement be released. There’s no reason to take Trump’s word or Iran’s or random leakers’ word for it. Release the text, period.

Civil disobedience: 1) Non-violently transgress a law you believe unjust 2) Accept the legal consequences 3) A public shocked by the harshness of the punishment forces changes in the law. Palestine Action: 1) Smash property and hurt people 2) Demand to be exempted from legal consequences 3) A public shocked by the violence of the crimes committed thinks, "actually these sentences seem rather light under the circumstances."
UK government's ban on Palestine Action is lawful, Court of Appeal says, overturning earlier ruling bbc.in/4uMempi

I am 52 years old. I have been working since I was 15 years old. I have no savings, no retirement, and will never own a home before I die. And there is now a trillionaire.

Here @Connorpoleary and I take apart @Pontifex for his primitive, malicious, and frankly ridiculous encyclical on AI.
The Pope’s Screed Against Human Intelligence Pope Leo XIV’s encyclical about AI has been received with near-universal acclaim, even by the tech companies he wants restricted. Why does our culture look for advice about its most advanced technology in primitive mysticism?

Elon Musk is about to become a trillionaire If he agreed to pay just 80% of that as a wealth tax to the EU, the EU government could use its efficient operating experience to fund bicycles with solar panels attached to them for over 40 residents of the Netherlands Elon is being selfish by not paying the wealth tax

UN Watch welcomes today’s decision by UNRWA to fire 70 employees over their ties to Hamas. This long-overdue step was taken under mounting pressure from investigative work by UN Watch and the USAID Inspector General Office which identified 101 culprits. unwatch.org/un-watch-welcome…

“Apple’s offers for compromise have been rejected. Unless one side changes its mind and concedes its current position, Siri AI will never come to the EU, and what Apple is saying here is that they’re unwilling to create the open-access-to-user-data system that the EC is demanding. And from what I’ve seen so far in a day of testing Siri AI, EU iOS users are going to miss out on something really good.” daringfireball.net/linked/20…

You don’t have to love Elon Musk to recognize what this headline says about us. A country that spends more time criticizing wealth creation than encouraging it sends a clear message to builders: your success is tolerated, not celebrated. Canada should be the best place in the world to build ambitious companies. Headlines like this make us look like we’re not quite ready for that.
